PARKING

The Museum is situated in Mill Close (next to the windmill). Free car parking is provided at the Gardiner Memorial Hall in the High Street (See sketch map below).
Follow the brown "Museum" signs to the High Street (B1102) and look for the 'A board' "Burwell Museum - Open - Carpark" sign on the path opposite the car park entrance when we're open. The car park entrance is near a pair of Keep Left bollards in the centre of the road. Please make sure you enter the car park through the correct gateway - marked with a large "IN" sign on the wall.
Short (signposted) walk from rear of carpark to the Museum (via Mill Close).

Disabled drivers may park in Mill Close (further disabled access details on Admission & Facilities page).
Passengers may be dropped off in Mill Close and then the driver should park their vehicle in the Car Park.
No visitor parking is permitted on any part of the Museum site (which includes the grassed area around the Windmill and the private access road off Mill Lane) due to lack of space and possible danger to pedestrians.

MAP
A detailed road atlas style map is available by clicking here: Location of Burwell Museum (a new window will open). Please use the car park (Gardiner Memorial Hall): Location of Museum Car Park (a new window will open).
Once parked, leave the car park by the pedestrian gate at the rear left. The entrance to Mill Close is on the opposite side of Mill Lane - diagonally to the left. Follow the footpath in Mill Close around the left hand corner and up to the windmill. The Museum entrance is to the right of the windmill.

If you would like a printer friendly copy of the simplified sketch map below click here. The map will open in a new window where you can save it on your computer and/or print it.

The detailed maps are also printable - follow the instructions on their pages.

SAT-NAV users should enter the postcode CB25 0HD or if it doesn't work CB5 0HD which is the postcode for the High Street where the Museum Car Park is located (Gardiner Memorial Hall). The two slightly different postcodes is because the Royal Mail have recently introduced new codes for many parts of Cambridgeshire. The CB5 area, which includes Burwell, is now CB25. The new postcodes are now in use for mail but some SAT-NAV devices and many mapping websites are still using the old codes. If the new CB25 postcode doesn't work use the old CB5 code.
The postcode is for the whole High Street not just the car park - you might need to follow the directions above and/or the maps provided.
BY BOAT
Small pleasure boats and narrow/canal boats can be moored in Burwell Lode (the river in Burwell) at the edge of the village about a mile from the museum.
The most suitable place to moor is near the "Anchor" pub. Walk up North Street (with the pub on your right), pass the "Co-Op" (on your right) and continue along the Causeway up to its junction with the High Street. Follow the High Street (right at the junction) until you pass the "Cambridge Building Society" (on the right). Cross over here and continue walking along the High Street, passing the "Crown" pub on the left and up Mill Lane. Pass Saxon Drive (on the left) then take the gravel track (the next left) up to the windmill and the museum.

Burwell Lode is accessed from the River Cam at Upware Lock.
